Welcome author Maya Tyler

I want to welcome fellow writer Maya Tyler especially as today is launch day of her new novel, A Wizard’s Choice. I asked Maya a few questions and you can read what she has to say down below. Also I want to thank her for being my guest. I wish her the wonderful success she deserves with all her future writing projects.

Maya Tyler is a multi-published author of paranormal romance novels. An avid reader, Maya writes the books she loves to read—romances! She still believes that “True Love’s Kiss” is the most powerful thing in the world. Her paranormal romances come with complex plot twists and happily-ever-afters. Maya draws inspiration for her stories from her active imagination, real-life experiences, and educational background.

When she’s not writing, you can find Maya enjoying her favourite things—hanging out with her family, reading, and drinking coffee (especially Starbucks French Roast)!

What genres do you like to write in?

I primarily write paranormal romance. My latest project Duet at Midnight is more of a young adult, contemporary romance with a splash of paranormal.

What is the title of your latest book, (tell us a bit about it)?

A Wizard’s Choice (release date July 17, 2019) is my latest book. It’s Book #2 in The Magicals Series, but can be read as a standalone.

Wizard apprentice Kurtis Warde, introduced in A Vampire’s Tale, The Magicals Series Book #1, is my main character. His life, so far, has been governed by external factors. He was raised by his grandfather because his parents abandoned him. He’s an apprentice because his grandfather is a wizard. But Kurtis is in love with his vampire friend’s maker, Dee. He wants a chance to find himself and, perhaps, find happiness.

An ancient wizard-fairy feud and a secret from Kurtis’ past threaten to take away all his choices. Forever.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently writing a chat story for the app Chapters: Interactive Stories called Duet at Midnight. It’s a reverse Cinderella story where the older brother of twin sisters falls for a pop princess. I’m posting it one chapter at a time on the app. Writing directly on the app is a new experience for me.

I have two other Community Stories on the app, but Duet at Midnight is the first one I’m posting myself. It’s a cool format—a combination of narration and dialogue—with character avatars and pictures.

You can download the app on your mobile device through the Apple app store or Google Play.

What is next for you? I have a lot of ideas for future books in The Magicals Series. Let’s see which character clamors for their story to be told next…

Blurb for A Wizard’s Choice

           Dreams or duty?

Wizard apprentice Kurtis Warde doesn’t want to become a full-fledged wizard, but he feels obligated to his grandfather who raised him. Making The Choice, whether or not to become a wizard and join The Circle, doesn’t feel like a choice at all. Leaving The Circle would give Kurtis the freedom to follow his own dreams, and to pursue vampiress, Dee, who has always intrigued him. He knows there’s more to Dee than the icy being she portrays, but will she give him a chance to know the real her?

There is unrest in the magical world. Fairies, a magical being thought to be long extinct, still exist. And the long-time feud between wizards and fairies threatens everyone Kurtis cares about, including his life coach, Alina, who has quickly become a close friend. And perhaps more. He discovers his connection to the ancient beings The Annunaki, the ancestors of wizards and fairies, may be key to the future. The more he uncovers, the more questions he has.

Will Kurtis choose to follow his heart or risk sacrificing his own happiness for peace in the magical world?

Books and Short Stories by Maya

Maya’s short story “Just for Tonight” was part of the anthology With Love from Val and Tyne (Breathless Press, 2012). The Valentine’s Day anthology included ten stand-alone stories, all involving a magic dress—designed by matchmaking Val and Tyne—that grants wishes.

Dream Hunter (Just Ink Press, 2014) is a story about a dedicated guardian angel sworn to protect his charge—currently the career-driven businesswoman Cynthia Courtland—and not become emotionally involved. As the story moves between the dream world and reality, you will question everything you think you know. Readers called it “exceptional” and “the best novella I have ever read.”

A Vampire’s Tale (Tirgearr Publishing, 2017), The Magicals Series, Book One, is a story about Corgan Halton, a vampire set to disprove Hollywood’s misconceptions about vampires, before he ends his existence. He selects Marisa Clements—an aspiring, paranormal author—to write his story. With Corgan’s ability to see the future, he knows Marisa will be involved in his death and his presence in her life will place her in grave danger. Readers called it “a deep and progressive tale of love” which is “a different take on your usual vampire romance novel.”

In 2018, Maya published short stories “Heart’s Storm” and “Fly Boy” for the app Chapters: Interactive Stories (Crazy Maple Studio, 2018). “Heart’s Storm” is about a down-on-her-luck screenwriter who discovers the key to her future is in the past. Readers call it “a cute time travel romance.” “Fly Boy” is about an independent landscaper who opens her heart to the possibility of love. Readers rave “amazing story” and “in love with this story.”

In 2019, “Fly Boy” was released as a visual novel on the app Chapters: Interactive Stories (Crazy Maple Studio, 2019).

A Wizard’s Choice (Tirgearr Publishing, 2019), The Magicals Series, Book Two, is a story about Kurtis Warde, a wizard apprentice who doesn’t want to become a full-fledged wizard. He wants to pursue his dreams and a certain captivating vampiress, Dee. Unrest in the magical world threatens everyone Kurtis cares about.

Family is important to Mary and her writing reflects the ups and downs of it all, and what people go through daily. She has been writing short stories for several years and enjoys success with her fiction in magazines, newspapers, and anthologies both in Ireland and abroad, namely Germany, India, and the US. Her stories have been both short/long listed in various competitions. It was because of this success, Mary took the plunge and self-published her first collection of stories titled, A Baker’s Dozen (2012). When one of her stories kept growing she ended up with her first published novel, My Husband's Sin. This novel turned into a trilogy, with book 2, Don't Call Me Mum, and book 3, No More Secrets following it. Her latest novel, To Live With A Stranger, is based on her Grandmother's country cottage and is a firm favourite with readers. Mary continues to write novels, novellas, and short stories, dabbling too in playwrighting. In 2019, Mary attended the University of Limerick and studied for a MA in Creative Writing, receiving First Class Honours. When taking a break from writing and reading Mary loves to crochet. Living in County Cork, Ireland, she is married and is a mother of four children. Having overcome open heart surgery in 2008, Mary made the decision to dedicate more time to her writing. With her children raised and starting to spread their wings, this became possible. Now, Mary is also a Nana, a role that brings her happiness and lots of love.
